Your guide would be directing you in the lobby of your hotel early in the morning for this flight to Minya after about four hours of the trip. Tell el-Amarna is the site you will visit upon you arrive; it is an ancient city located south of Minya Governorate in Deir Mawas area, on the eastern bank of the Nile. Historians and Egyptologists refer to this place as the "City of Mysterious Religious Secrets" because queen Nefertiti and king Tutankhamun spent time there. It is seen as a symbol of the revolutionary concept.
Historians mentioned that when King Amenhotep IV or Akhenaten wanted to choose a land to worship the one god, he set several criteria for this land. Among those criteria was that it be a pure land where no god had been worshipped before and where no human foot had set foot, and that it had a beautiful location on the Nile. So, it was Tell el-Amarna in Dayr Mawas, that area which lies between the two oldest capitals of Egypt, Thebes and Memphis.
You will then be transported to Queen Nefertiti's palace in the heart of the Minya desert. At a depth of 70 meters, lies the most important tomb in the Tell el-Amarna archaeological area in the Deir Mawas district. This is the royal tomb of King Akhenaten, husband of Queen Nefertiti, the most beautiful of all. This unique tomb reveals the secrets of this rebellious pharaoh's life and his unique religious beliefs.
After that, you will tour the most interesting and famous tombs, which are the 39 tombs of the Ibex region, dating back to the First Intermediate Period, the time of the Ninth and Tenth Dynasties. The Middle Kingdom tombs, of which 12 tombs remain, 8 of which are the most important, and they belong to the governors of the regions, including the tomb of the son of the prince of the city of Khufu, another tomb for a royal scribe, and the tomb of Khnumhotep. Finally, you will be transferred back to Cairo after enjoying your lunch.
