Your tour will begin with an unforgettable visit to the Temple of Kom Ombo. The name “Kom Ombo” came from two parts; the first part is "Kom,” meaning hill, and the second is "Ombo," a corruption of “Anbu” or "Nabu,” meaning gold, as this area controlled the roads leading to the gold mines, as it was known in Egyptian texts as "Ba-Sobek," meaning the seat of Sobek, who was worshiped in it since pre-dynastic times.

The Temple of Kom Ombo is characterized by the beautiful capitals of the columns; it also features magnificent landscapes adorning its walls. It lists the calendar of festivals and other religious activities, along with their dates and accompanying rituals. Work on this temple continued until the reign of the emperors “Caracalla, Geta, and Macrinus,” that is, until 218 AD, so the Kom Ombo temple took almost a quarter of a hundred years to build.

After that, we will start another adventure to the beautiful Temple of Edfu. Edfu is located about 105 km from Aswan, but it has the best-preserved temple in Egypt, and it is one of the landmarks that all those interested and passionate about antiquities are keen to see. The temple was built over the reign of six Ptolemies and was dedicated to the worship of the god Horus, who has the head of a falcon, and the main building with a great colonnade.

The Temple of Edfu, or the Temple of Horus, is the second largest temple in ancient Egypt, after the Temple of Karnak, located in the city of Edfu in Upper Egypt on the west bank of the Nile River, which was known during the Hellenistic period as (Ἀπόλλλωνος πόλις) and in Latin (Apollonopolis Magna), representing one of the last attempts by the Ptolemies to build temples in the style of their ancestors in form and grandeur. The Temple of Horus took about 180 years to build.

Wonderful All-Day Journey from Aswan to Kom Ombo & Edfu

from 7:00 AM in Aswan, your driver and guide will pick you up from your hotel or cruise ship. You will travel in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle to Kom Ombo, which is around an hour's drive away, after receiving a briefing.

8:00 AM: Tour the Kom Ombo Temple
Upon reaching the majestic Temple of Kom Ombo, you will be struck by its unique twin design, which honors the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Horus.Your guide will tell you interesting tales about its past as you explore. See actual ancient crocodiles that have been mummified at the Crocodile Museum.

9:30 AM: Travel to Edfu by car
Following your visit, you'll have a picturesque journey for around one and a half hours to Edfu. Unwind and take in the sights of the verdant Nile countryside.

At 11:00 AM, see Edfu's magnificent Temple of Horus.
You will then go back in time to the Temple of Horus, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. As you navigate its massive pylons and elaborate carvings, you will hear tales of Horus and his battles with Set. It's almost like being at an outdoor museum at this temple!

Return to Aswan at 2:00 PM
You'll start your two-hour drive back to Aswan feeling satisfied, where you can unwind and think back on your day's events.

4:00 PM: Departure to Your Hotel or Nile Cruise
Your amazing journey will come to an end when your guide drops you off at your hotel or cruise ship upon your return to Aswan.
