This unusual day tour from Safaga Port begins with a private pick-up by our representative, who will escort you to Luxor in a comfortable vehicle. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by your personal expert guide for an enriching Egypt shore excursion through one of the world's greatest open-air museums.
Your first stop is the majestic Luxor Temple with a peculiarity of not having been dedicated to any deity or divine king but was rather dedicated to the renewal of kingship, a concept unheard of anywhere else in antiquity but only quite known in ancient Egyptian thought.
Following this, you’ll proceed to the Valley of the Kings and Queens, where many of Egypt’s rulers were laid to rest. The valley served as a secure location to protect their tombs and treasures from ancient grave robbers – a significant part of any Egypt tour.
The journey continues to the lesser-known Dra' Abu el-Naga, an ancient necropolis from the 17th Dynasty, where cartouches of Thutmose I were discovered — a significant find in Egyptian archaeology.
Your tour also includes Madinet Habu Temple, believed by some to derive its name from a nearby city and by others from a Christian monk named Habu. Remarkably, its second courtyard was converted into a church during the early Christian period.
Finally, you’ll visit the striking Colossi of Memnon, monumental statues that once flanked a now-destroyed temple. Despite the earthquake that levelled the temple, these timeless guardians still stand, overlooking the Theban plains.
At the conclusion of your tour, you’ll return comfortably to your cruise ship at Safaga Port, completing an exceptional Egypt shore excursion.
