An hour-long journey that takes tourists through the Karnak courtyard, the Hall of Columns and the Sacred Lake, and offers presentations on the history of the ancient Egyptians. “Sound and Light” is a delightful journey and enchanting shows presented daily in the evening inside the Karnak temples in Luxor city centre, through which foreigners in Luxor book a ticket to enter the Karnak Gate to illuminate their hearts with magic and beauty and narrate the great Pharaonic history in a different way from the tour guides in the morning tours.

As soon as the tourist cohort enters the Karnak Temples in the evening period from 8 pm in the summer season, it reaches the area of the small bridge in front of the inner facade of the temple after Karnak Square, and the magical fantasy journey begins in the sound and light by taking tourist cohorts to another delightful world to enter the ancient city of Thebes, the ancient capital, and tourists wander among the streets of the ancient Egyptian capital of ancient civilisation, and the voices begin to tell the great history of the ancient Egyptian kings, temples and ancient history in a delightful atmosphere for everyone, and the ancient history is narrated and the reasons for naming the city of Thebes by this name and the story of the great monuments inside it.

Our driver will pick you up in front of your hotel or cruise ship and transfer you to the Karnak Temple. On the history of sound and light in the Karnak temples, the sound and light and its dazzling shows on the walls and works of the Karnak temples were started about 52 years ago, and the necessary development is done periodically every year to serve tourists, as the sound and light project began in 1961 by Tharwat Okasha, Minister of Culture during the era of Gamal Abdel Nasser, and later the project was popularised in the rest of the archaeological sites around Egypt.


After that, the distinctive project was generalised in other archaeological sites around Egypt and was inaugurated in Karnak Temples on 19 December 1972 by Dr. Mohamed Abdel Qader Hatem, Minister of Culture under President Anwar Sadat, and is currently presented in Arabic, English, Spanish, French and other languages of the world according to the wishes of the guests of the tourist groups visiting Luxor on the day of the shows. After enjoying the show you will return to your accommodation in Luxor.

The Temple of Karnak is one of the largest and most important temple complexes in ancient Egypt. It was dedicated to the worship of Amun-Ra, the chief deity of the Egyptian pantheon.
