Full Day Trip to East and West Banks of Luxor

Price Starting From : $90

Despite its relatively small size, Luxor is truly a storehouse of Egyptian antiquities in the literal sense of the word. Enjoy one of our tours of the West Bank and see its antiquities. A trip to Luxor is different. It is a mercurial city with multiple descriptions. A visitor can consider it a unique archaeological site, or an open museum that includes some of the most famous antiquities in the world. But at the same time, it is difficult to reduce it to the tourist character that many other world cities are famous for.

Luxor is a city that has many aspects of ordinary daily life that characterize the cities of Upper Egypt, with popular markets, diverse traditional industries and crafts. Luxor has become like a mosaic that combines the ancient Pharaonic character with aspects of modern life. Its historical buildings built on the eastern and western banks of the Nile River have become like a living organism that blends with other surrounding elements.

If you want to leave the east bank of the Nile, where the sun rises, and go to the western mainland, where the sun sets and life is temporarily extinguished, you will find there another open-air museum, with a funerary nature in both the metaphorical and real sense of the word. There are tombs, the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens, and huge temples built to commemorate the most famous pharaohs of their time.

We have a day prepared for you since you need to plan wisely. The guide will meet you in the morning and you will be able to visit: Valley of the Kings: Ancient Egyptians were concerned with preserving the body, mummifying it and placing it in a safe place for the afterlife. The Pharaohs' ideas for burying their kings changed from pyramids to underground tombs after repeated thefts.

After enjoying your meal, you will be transferred to two statues of Memnon. The two statues are famous for the widely circulated legend, “Eos, the mother of Memnon, the goddess of dawn, asked Zeus, the greatest of the Greek gods, to distinguish her son from the rest of the people. He promised her that his voice would be heard every day, and his mother would weep for him when she heard this voice.”

After providing information about the two statues of Memnon, you will now learn about the Bahari Monastery. The site of Deir el-Bahri is famous for containing the funerary temple of Queen Hatshepsut (1473-1458 BC) in the western land of Luxor. The temple consists of three tiers tiered in the valley floor, where funerary rituals were held for both Queen Hatshepsut "who received the title of king", in addition to her father, King Thutmose I, where sacrifices were made in order to guarantee the queen's soul a peaceful eternal life in the next world. The best time to visit Luxor is during the winter months (from November to February), when the weather is mild and comfortable for exploration. During this time, temperatures are typically in the range of 20–25 °C (68–77 °F). It's important to note that Luxor can get very hot during the summer months, with temperatures exceeding 40°C (104°F). If you visit during the summer, it's advisable to plan your activities for the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the peak heat.

Some of the must-visit attractions in Luxor include:

Luxor Temple: A magnificent temple complex located in the heart of the city.

Karnak Temple: One of the largest temple complexes in the world, dedicated to the god Amun.

Valley of the Kings: The burial site of many pharaohs, including Tutankhamun.

Valley of the Queens: The burial site of the queens and children of pharaohs.

Hatshepsut Temple: A unique funerary temple dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut.

Colossi of Memnon: Two massive stone statues representing Pharaoh Amenhotep III.

There is a place near some big statues and a valley where artists work. It is open every day from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you want to go inside, you have to buy a ticket.

Some sites, like the Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple, have areas that are more accessible, but many ancient sites have uneven terrain and stairs. It’s best to inquire specifically with tour operators about accessibility options.

Some tours include stops at local markets or bazaars where you can shop for souvenirs, spices, and handicrafts. If this interests you, check with the tour operator for specific details.

Most tour guides speak English, and many also speak French, German, Spanish, Italian, and other languages. Be sure to request your preferred language when booking.
