We will begin our journey to the Saladin Citadel after breakfast at the hotel. A crucial component of the citadel's defensive system during military operations, the defense towers are encircled by an impressive and sturdy three-tiered wall...
See the castle up close and learn about it. There are two separate portions to the citadel. The first has walls on the east and north sides and is rectangular in shape. It is situated on the northern side. Because of its square and round towers, it served as a military stronghold throughout the reigns of Saladin and his brother, King Al-Adil.
We visit a few churches in Coptic Cairo after touring a portion of Islamic Cairo. Because it was a significant destination on the Holy Family's trip to Egypt, the historic Church of Abu Serga holds great significance in ancient Egypt. Another name for it is the Cave Church. It is the earliest church in ancient Egypt and maybe all of Cairo, according to historians. The Holy Family traveled by the location where it was constructed. The grotto where the Holy Family rested during their journey to Egypt is situated nearby. Below the main altar, which bears the names of Bacchus and Sergius, lies the cave. It is around 2.5 meters in height, 5 meters in width, and 6 meters in length...
With dimensions of around 23.5 square meters, 18.5 meters wide, and 9.5 meters high, the church is shaped like a rectangle. The church has eight columns on each side and is composed of a main nave and two smaller wings. Three columns with massive pointed arches form a row between the northern wing and the nave. On the eastern side of the church are three sanctuaries: the middle one bears the name of the Virgin Mary, the right one bears the name of Saint John the Baptist, and Saint Mary George's name appears on the left one.
