Price Starting From : $290

The Museum of Egyptian Civilization is still expanding its collection, and its rooms and collections are expected to be expanded or modified. In addition to the 6,000 varied ancient pieces housed at the NMEC, the Royal Mummies Hall and rare pieces, including the oldest skeleton ever discovered belonging to a man at the prehistoric site of Nazlet Khater in Middle Egypt, the NMEC is characterized by the diversity of cultural activities it organizes. Enjoy an exceptional day with us

The Egyptian collections from the numerous excavation campaigns of the 19th century were first exhibited at the Boulaq Museum from 1863 to 1889, then in the former royal palace of Giza, whose first curator was the French Egyptologist Auguste Mariette. It was he who decided to build, in the heart of modern Cairo, the neoclassical building in Tahrir Square, erected in 1896 by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon: it was the first true Egyptian museum in Cairo, easily recognizable by its dome. This museum, whose direction was then entrusted to the French Egyptologist Gaston Maspero, opened its doors 6 years later. On two floors, the Egyptian Museum of Cairo presents its collections in around a hundred rooms. In the gardens decorated with ponds and monumental statues, the tutelary figure of French Egyptology: Auguste Mariette, sits enthroned. Learn more through our exciting trips.

Egypt Tours FAQ

Egypt has always been and now is a civilised Middle Eastern and African nation that welcomes all cultures and beliefs. Even after it was declared an Islamic state, you may still see many different types of universally recognised attire everywhere. Although foreign women are not required to cover their body, head, and hair like the majority of Egyptian women are, they are required to cover their bodies from the shoulders to at least the knees in sacred buildings like synagogues, churches, and mosques.

Men are expected to dress appropriately and refrain from appearing in public wearing anything too short, such as boxer shorts and bicycle shorts. Of course, various types of bathing attire from across the world are permitted on the beaches.

This museum is fantastic, and you should definitely go. The best part is a room with King Tut's tomb, but photography is prohibited. There are so many things to see inside that you could spend three days and still not see everything!
