The Giza and Meidum Pyramids Tour is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that traverses through Egypt's ancient architectural evolution into both the magnificence and mystery that surround pyramid-building in the land of the pharaohs. Your adventure begins in the celebrated Giza Plateau, where the foremost of all pyramids stands tall: the Great Pyramid of Khufu, and the other two being the Pyramid of Khafre and the smaller Pyramid of Menkaure. The Great Sphinx stands guard alongside them: a lion in strength and wisdom.

Afterwards, the tour explores Meidum to the south of Cairo, a less-visited yet very important historical site. It was a very important stop in the design of pyramids, from step-sided to smooth-sided ones. Despite their partial collapse, their unique shape offers much insight into the very early stages of architectural experimentation.

Itinerary

After meeting your team Leader, you will be transferred to the Airport for your flight to Cairo International Airport. An additional tour leader will welcome you at the hall, carrying a signboard with your name, to embark on the day tours from Hurghada, and then you will be escorted once again to the Cairo hotels.

Start with a guided tour of the Giza Plateau Great Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. And the Great Sphinx. Your expert guide will give you a fascinating history, architecture, and ancient legends about these world wonders. Feel the grandeur of Giza, and then journey further south to Saqqara, the vast necropolis, where you will admire the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the first large-scale stone structure ever built, and explore various ancient tombs dressed with brightly colored wall carvings.

Next, continue your journey to Dahshur, a relatively quiet and calm venue famous for its experimental pyramid architecture. Enjoy your visit to the pyramids of Bent with their awkwardly angled sides, and also the magnificent Red Pyramid, regarded as Egypt's 1st technically smooth-sided pyramid. Enjoy the serenity of the desert and the intimate experience with the superb structures. After an enriching experience of ancient marvels and absorbing historic tales, relax en route to Cairo, carrying with you beautiful memories of the evolution of pyramids in Egypt.

Start your morning with a hearty breakfast in your hotel before setting off on a journey to one of Egypt's familiar yet still somewhat less talked-about pyramids. Your driver and guide will pick you up for a comfortable drive to El Lahun on the edge of Fayoum Oasis, where you shall enter and explore the Pyramid of Senusret II, an unusual kind of construct signifying Modernism from the Middle Kingdom times. It offers less foot traffic than Giza, thus rendering it a quieter site, where one can admire the remains, worth inspect how the Ancient Egyptians erected their biggest monuments and burial sites.

Upon finishing the trip to El Lahun, you will continue to the nearby Meidum Pyramid, believed to have been initiated by Pharaoh Huni and either completed or altered by Sneferu. Otherwise called the "collapsed pyramid," Meidum provides an intriguing story about the earliest attempts at pyramid construction in Egypt. Away from the crowds, your guide will tell you about the theories of its ill-defined shape and its historic context.

Leaving Meidum, take a scenic drive back through the countryside, with an optional stop for a local lunch or refreshments en route.
