the Administrative Capital Company for Urban Development the city was established by the decision of the president of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah al-Sisi No. 57 of 2016 and its establishment was announced during the conference on support and development of the Egyptian economy held in Sharm el-Sheikh from March 13 to 15, 2015 and was contracted with the United Arab Emirates for its establishment during the conference activities. the total area of the city is about 170 thousand acres (688 km2), which is larger than the area of Singapore and four times larger than the city of Washington, DC United States of America, it is about 60 km away from Cairo city in the east direction, and about 65 km from Suez city in the west direction, and it is planned to accommodate approximately 6.5 million people when its construction phases are fully completed.

History

The project was announced as the new administrative capital in 2015 to include the new presidential palace, parliament and government and an upscale diplomatic neighborhood, and to be the headquarters of ministries, official bodies and embassies in Egypt, as well as the headquarters of companies and private sector institutions, as well as modern resorts, shopping centers and upscale residential neighborhoods with investments of up to 45 billion dollars in signing a project agreement for its construction between Emaar Properties, the UAE investor in the project represented by its chairman Mohamed Alabbar.

The signing was witnessed by the vice president of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al Sisi, and it was planned that more than 35 Egyptian companies specializing in construction and contracting works would participate in its implementation and that it would take from 5 to 7 years to complete it.


The Emirati company withdrew from the project shortly after the announcement, Major General Ahmed Zaki Abdin, president of the new administrative capital company, indicated in 2018 that the total cost of the first phase of the capital is 300 billion pounds (about 16 billion dollars at the time) which will be fully completed within 3 years from now. the cost of the first stage until 2021 was estimated at 25 billion dollars; the army and the government bore the burden of saving and were pumped out of the general state budget. “The implementation rates in the first phase exceeded 60 percent in all projects,”said Khaled al-Husseini, spokesman for the new capital at the time.while the head of the company, Major General Abdin, said that the cost of the government district only reached 50 billion pounds, which was financed from the proceeds of the land sale, and that the new administrative capital company will collect a rental value from the government when it receives these facilities and buildings.

The general scheme

Work began in the government district in 2015 on an area of 1.5 million m2 (150 acres), the buildings are erected on an area of only 28% and the rest of the area is green areas, and the number of employees in the government district reaches 5500 employees daily, the district includes 10 ministerial complexes with a total of 34 ministries in addition to the building of the presidency of the Council of ministers, the building of the House of Representatives and a main axis
 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs building is located to the right of the Council of ministers in the first complex, and behind it is a complex that includes 5 ministries, namely Culture, Tourism, Antiquities, Communications, Planning, Administrative Reform and Civil Aviation, the second complex includes six ministries, namely the business sector, catering, Foreign Trade, Trade, Industry, manpower, migration, investment and international cooperation, the third complex includes the ministries of Housing, Social Solidarity, Media, Media bodies and the central organization and administration, the fourth complex includes the ministries of Awqaf, higher education and education, the Suez Canal Economic authority and the capital company building, and the fifth complex also includes the ministries of electricity and energy Petroleum, mineral resources and military production are next to the Personnel Service building.
The sixth complex includes the ministries of finance, environment and local development.the seventh complex includes the ministries of irrigation, water resources and agriculture, the Cabinet of ministers, the building of specialized personnel and police services. the seventh complex includes four ministries, namely transport, health, the Health Insurance Authority, youth and sports, and the parliamentary councils. the neighborhood also includes the building of the presidency of the government, the House of Representatives on an area of 25.87 acres, and the Senate building.


District of Money and works

It is the financial center of the new administrative capital, it was established to be a regional center and headquarters for major Egyptian and international companies and banks, located west of the Regional Ring Road between the North and South axes of Mohammed bin Zayed, on an area of about 1703 km2, with an investment volume of about 3.4 billion US dollar being built by the Chinese "CSCEC", the neighborhood in its first phase includes 18 towers with heights ranging from 100 to 400 meters, a variety of 10 towers with administrative activity, 5 Towers with residential activity, and 3 towers with mixed activity, one of the most important towers in the neighborhood is the iconic tower, which has a height of about 385 meters and will become the tallest tower in Egypt and the continent of Africa. it also includes Infinity towers With a height of 200 meters, diamond with a height of 200 meters, tach Egypt with a height of 170 meters, and others, the project is scheduled to be fully delivered in February 2023.
