A Cairo Top Tours professional representative will pick you up from your Luxor hotel early in the morning so you can travel to the airport in Luxor to Cairo, where a private vehicle will pick you up outside the airport by our guide.
With Cairo Top Tours, you will have an impressive experience in Cairo, starting with a visit to the Pyramids area. Along with the well-known Sphinx, we can view the pyramids of Khufu, his son Khafre, and his grandson Menkaure, who were all rulers of the Fourth Dynasty. Each of the kings' pyramids had a pyramid group, each of which included the pyramids of the queens, a small pyramid considered a doctrinal pyramid for the king, a valley temple from which an ascending road, whose sides are carved with scenes of daily life, leads to an upper temple known as the funeral temple, and priests performed funeral and the king's funeral rites within these temples. In addition, the area previously housed Khufu's boats, known as the Sun Boats, which were recently moved to the Grand Egyptian Museum when it opened.
Our next step will be to the Egyptian Museum, Cairo's historical and touristic landmark, which is the oldest archaeological museum in the Middle East and the first building in the world built as a museum. The idea for its construction began in 1895, when the French architect Marcel Dorneo won the international competition held to design the museum building, and it was inaugurated by Khedive Abbas Helmy II in 1902. In April 2021, the museum was the center of world attention as it bid farewell to 22 royal mummies to be transferred to its permanent exhibition at the amazing National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat.
We will then explore Coptic Cairo, a part of Old Cairo that includes the Babylon Citadel, the Hanging Church, the Greek Church of St. George and many Coptic churches and other historical sites. Christian tradition holds that the Holy Family came to this region and remained at the location of the Church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus (Abu Sarja). Coptic Cairo was a stronghold of Christianity in Egypt before and during the Islamic era, and most of its churches were built after the Islamic conquest of Egypt in the 7th century.
The trip ends with a transfer to Cairo International Airport to return to Luxor, carrying unforgettable memories from the beating heart of Egypt's history and beauty.
